Security and privacy start at capture
Operational recordings can contain sensitive information. The Understudied is being designed to limit what is captured, redact locally, and keep people in control of what becomes shared knowledge.

Explicit recording, not ambient observation
A recording begins and ends when a user chooses. The intended unit is one task or process, captured for the purpose of creating knowledge. This is not a model for continuous employee monitoring.
Clear scope gives the person recording a chance to prepare the workspace, avoid unrelated material, and understand what evidence will be reviewed.

Redaction before egress
Local redaction before information leaves the device is a core product requirement. Credentials, personal information, and other sensitive fields should be detected and removed from the material used for cloud-based distillation.
The design is still being developed and tested. Specific security controls and deployment options will be documented as the product moves toward availability.

Provenance, review, and approval
Generated procedures should remain connected to their source and carry a visible review state. A human reviewer must be able to correct the result, reject it, or mark it ready for use.
These controls are important for both quality and accountability. A plausible answer is not enough when a team needs to know which approved process supports it.
